Samsung has showcased its third-generation 10-nanometer production process to potential clients and will offer process design kits in the second quarter of next year.
Samsung Electronics will offer third-generation 10-nanometer (nm) chip production and fourth-generation 14nm process for clients, the company has announced.
Process design kits for the 10LPU and 14LPU processes will be shared in the second quarter of next year, the company said.
In October, the South Korean tech giant began commercial production of a processor using its first generation 10nm that will likely be headed to the Galaxy S8 launched next year.
The company began its second-generation 14nm process in January.
Generally, smaller chips consume less power, conserve space in products, and process faster.
Samsung’s main rival in foundry, or chip contract making, is Taiwan-based TSMC. Both are offering their respective 10nm processes to client Qualcomm, which makes its Snapdragon series of processors from the two contract makers.
Samsung also showcased its 7nm EUV wafer, which is how it will lithograph on the silicon wafer to design and cut out 7nm nodes.
