Apple announces the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus

Apple just unveiled the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus at its press event. It looks a lot like the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, but with a glass back. The iPhone 8 still has a single camera while the 8 Plus has a double camera.

It comes in silver, space grey and a new gold finish that looks like a mix between gold and rose gold. These phones are sealed to be water and dust resistant. There’s a new retina HD display. It has true tone technology like the most recent iPad Pro. It adapts to ambient light.

Theresa May secretly hatched plan to ‘rig’ parliament straight after losing majority in election

Democratic Unionist Party agreed to help the Conservatives seize control of all Commons committees – but the deal was not revealed

Theresa May’s plan to “rig” Parliament to prepare for Brexit was hatched immediately after her general election disaster but kept secret, The Independent has learned.
The Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) agreed to help the Conservatives seize control of all Commons committees – despite losing their majority – when it struck the June deal to prop the Tories up in power.
However, that crucial part of the deal, paving the way for ministers to force through up to 1,000 “corrections” to EU law ahead of Brexit, was not mentioned in the so-called “cash-for-votes” agreement.

The next Apple Watch will have LTE cell service

Last night an iOS 11 GM download link made its way onto Reddit, which 9to5Mac discovered and has been digging through.

You can check out the full list of discoveries here, but one big thing that stood out is that the next Apple Watch (or at least one version of it) will finally have LTE cell service, meaning it doesn’t need to be tethered to your phone at all times. The leaked screenshot above shows a LTE signal strength indicator in the top left corner of the watch.

End is nigh for Nasa’s Cassini as it heads for crash landing on Saturn

Collaboration with European space agencies began in 1997 and has provided pictures of the moon, Titan, for scientists.

Cassini prepares to plunge on its self-destruct mission into Saturn’s atmosphere.

Nasa’s Cassini mission to Saturn is entering its final week. On 15 September, it will dive towards the planet and burn up in its atmosphere. Nasa have called it the grand finale.

Cassini is one of the most ambitious space missions. It is a collaboration between Nasa, ESA and the Italian space agency, Agenzia Spaziale Italiana. The spacecraft, launched on 15 October 1997, took seven years to travel through the solar system to Saturn, which lies about 10 times further from the Sun than Earth.

Apple looks set to introduce a special “iPhone X” on Tuesday, to mark 10 years of the handset. We’ve seen a number of leaks about the hardware and its features, but everyone has been calling it the iPhone 8 so far. It looks like Apple is about to launch its top-tier phone as the iPhone X, if the latest leaked firmware is accurate.
